Timothee Should've Won

TIMOTHEE WAS ROBBED.

I honestly didn’t really watch many of the other movies that were contenders in the Oscars but I loved A Complete Unknown. I wasn’t a fan of Timothee before but I was fully absorbed into him as Bob Dylan and I can acknowledge his talent in his myriad of other films. He’s a hard-working talented guy. It’s insane that that film left with nothing: the music was great, the acting was good, it had all it needed. It was an entertaining and nerve-wracking watch though.  I was keeping up with Club Chalamet all night and when she tweeted “The Academy made their decision” she set off a 3.9 magnitude Earthquake. Overkill? Maybe, (not).

As for Anora, wow. I was totally shocked that movie took it all. It was a good movie and all, but others were definitely more exciting. Sean Baker deserved those wins for a while though and honestly it was a HUGE win for indie cinema that the movie was recognized as much as it was. It signalled to Hollywood that it was ready for more real, lower budget films and that the CGI monsters of the era are maybe not what are going to be remembered.

All in all, I enjoyed the ceremony itself, usually award shows are long and drab but this one felt more laid-back and interactive. A brief reprise for both attendees and viewers from the craze of the world, especially in Los Angeles lately.

I am also soooo sad for Wicked. What a truly beautiful and captivating film. The special effects, the talent, the voice, the choreography. Cynthia deserved to take a win. But you know what the Oscars and award shows never are… fair.

Sooooo here goes another year of awesome films, that’s the best part of Hollywood.

Are there any you’re looking forward to?
